What requirements must you meet to qualify for a 'standard installation'.

You must not be on a 'looped supply'.

Your existing consumer unit must be metal.

Your existing consumer unit must already have a 'Type A RCD'.

Your existing consumer unit must already have surge protection installed.

Your existing consumer unit must have spare capacity for an additional circuit.
What is included in a 'standard installation'.

1 x MCB or RCBO.

5m x EV ultra 6mm high-tuff cable.

Drilling through 1 external wall.

Cable clips and fixings.

Cable glands.

Electric Vehicle Charging Points
We can install an electric vehicle charging point at your home or business.
SOTA Electrical Ltd are OZEV (Government funding scheme) Approved Installers for Electric Vehicle Charging Points.
Workplace Scheme
We can apply for a grant of up to £14,000 for you to install EV Charging Points at your Workplace under the Workplace Charging Scheme.
This is limited to £350 per charging socket up to a max of 40 Sockets.
We will carry out a survey of your property to establish the best options for you.

Consumer Unit Replacements
Your consumer unit (fuse box) provides vital safety coverage to protect YOU from electric shock, burns etc, and your HOME from potential fire in the event of a fault.
Consumer units are divided into circuits which separately provide power for lights, sockets, immersion heater, smoke alarms, electric oven, hob, and electric vehicle chargers etc.
We pride ourselves in our bespoke consumer unit replacement service, if you are concerned about the condition and safety of your current consumer unit, or you have an old style rewireable “fuse box”, we can give you a quote for upgrading your installation to the modern standards that will include all the additional safety features required by home insurance policies.

How often should I get my electrics tested?
If you own your house you should have your electrical installation tested every 10 years.
In a rental property you should have an electrical inspection every 5 years or on change of occupancy. This is now a legal requirement as of 1st June 2020.
A property should also ideally be tested before being sold so that the buyers know the condition of the electrics.
Testing and Inspection
